FAQ Ashes Memorial Jewellery By Victoria
Here are some of the frequently asked questions around our unique handmade memorial jewellery. Hopefully these will answer most queries but we are always on the end of an email to give more detail or advice
How long do I have to wait?
Well that depends on how quickly you can get your cremation ash to us. Typically it takes 4 weeks to complete one piece of jewellery. So if you have a few items it will take longer. In busy periods we will let you know if the lead time changes.
What does handmade mean?
Hand made is exactly that. Each item is made from scratch by us, we don't buy in ready made frames and fit a stone. The only items that are premade are the clasps and necklace / bracelet chains
How do I know its my ash in there?
Well there is an element of trust here, but we are more than happy to provide picture or video evidence of the ash being added to the glass or vessel, just ask.
Why don't you do a self fill option on your vessel items?
Purely because I don't think a screw fitting is the best seal. We will solder or laser weld the opening closed so it is a seamless finish. Nothing will come undone or loose over time and its permanent.
Will the glass break or get scratched?
Glass can scratch but you have to really scrape it on something sharp for that to happen. The fused and lampworked glass is annealed in a kiln to ensure its hardness. I have taken a hammer to a fused glass stone and it didn't even mark. Obviously they are not diamonds so you do have to be careful and treat the jewellery with care and attention. You can send the ring back for a clean and service at anytime. Here we can re-polish the glass to remove some marks, the same with the metal. Just drop is a line or find the "Jewellery service" product listing.
Why don't you offer resin jewellery?
Quite simply we don't like it! Properly worked glass is tough and will last a lifetime with no yellowing, shrinkage or reaction to the ash (having experienced this in the past and it was so upsetting) Resin has its place, the inlay rings use resin to hold the mix of the semi precious stones and ash together but its not the main event. I would use resin for some hair items but I don't like putting someone's loved one in plastic, it doesn't seem right to me. However, there are some fantastic resin artists out there who are making incredible items if its what you really want.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes, our items have a warranty against manufacturing fault. As its a handmade item especially for you we want to make sure everything is just right, so the warranty is there for a lifetime. This does not cover clasps or chains as these are supplied to us. This also doesn't cover you if you damage the ring or the glass breaking in an accident, but we will always give a fair and reasonable price for fixing accidental damage or wear and tear.
Is the postage tracked and insured?
Yes, the return postage with our Ashes Packs is fully tracked, but not insured. Your items will be posted to you using a fully insured and tracked option, like Royal Mail Special Delivery.
Can I change my mind?
Of course, its your bespoke item. However once the item is made, it cant be returned or cancelled as the work has always happened. We will update you regularly in the process and there are certain points where you can alter a colour or design or engraving, just don't sit on the thought for too long, Get in touch straight way if you have any changes,
